We are not too late to harness this new wave of invention for the better.
To seize the moment we need to act early and with multiple types of capital.
The way to win is to invest in and develop networks, not individuals alone.
We drive network value through reach to talent and through quality of data and exchange.
We have the tools and vehicles to act now. We can't wait.
Individually, we have held pivotal leadership roles in diverse organizations across sectors — driving the inception, development, and execution of large-scale programs with world-changing impact.
In that work, we encountered significant moments of insight that led us to create Telescope, dedicated to putting that experience to work in new ways.
But the world today is engineered for division. Whether by design or not, violence defeats trust; lies defeat truth; outrage defeats connection and common sense.
Even the inventions that have the most potential for good can be both positive and terrifying. With advances like artificial intelligence or bioengineering, it is easy to fear that innovation will hurt us more than it helps us. In a world as uncertain and as interconnected as ours, the actions of one person, one company, one institution can affect more people, more quickly, than ever before.
At Telescope, we believe that now is the time to advance new models of innovation and collective action — coming together to scale not just what works, but also what will make more people’s lives better, not worse. The people designing the future should be using the tools of the modern world to make society better on purpose.
By making it easier for like-minded people in government, business, civil society, and philanthropy to support what’s both innovative and positive, we can make society more safe, secure, and prosperous for more people worldwide.
We create shared vehicles and pooled funds to give more scale to initiatives using science, technology, and human ingenuity for good. We bring ideas, people, and capital together in unusual partnerships for work and mutual support – because we can do much more by working together than we can do alone. And we don’t have to rely on 19th and 20th century models of investment, governance, or community to do so.
Why not use this power to change the world at massive scale positively and on purpose? The same power that can work against us can also work for us. People have more power to shape the future together than ever before.
